Vehicle Voltron II: The Fall of Hazar

Story Treatment

The Logline

Continuing their mission to bring peace to the Near Universe, the Vehicle Voltron Force seeks out more information to counter the Drules' war on the Alliance. This brings them closer to falling into a trap set by Zeppo's Viceroy Throk to threaten Hazar's family to force his compliance.

Main Characters

Aside from characters introduced in the previous four movies to be expounded on, new faces here will be expounded on in future installments.

1) JANET ♀ - Age: 35. Captain of the fallen Galaxy Alliance Starship Paladin. Her full title is Captain Janet Sakura Manabu. During a long cadet training mission organized by Captain Newley of the Explorer, Janet's ship suffered an unfortunate accident near the border into the space of the Drule Empire. The ship went down and was presumed destroyed. Before crashing, Janet insisted that she could not face the souls of her dead comrades and cadets if she fled, but the Paladin crashed on the planet relatively intact which led to a Drule scout party arriving to take Janet alive and unharmed as a prisoner. She is now in the process of organizing a prison riot to help prisoners of the Drules escape to freedom.

2) WADE ♂ - Age: 23. Yeoman to the Commanding and Executive Officers of the Galaxy Alliance Starship Explorer. His full name is Chief Petty Officer Garris "Garry" Glen Wade. Tasked with ensuring whatever Captain Newley or Commander Hawkins need done gets done, Wade is an ambitious and crafty young officer in the Galaxy Alliance with dreams of money, power to rule certain worlds, and high status among women - both civilian and military alike. Over the course of his career, the Voltron forces will have to be careful around him - for he is nursing something of a one-sided adversarial working relationship with Jeff, Krik and Cliff. He hopes to either control the universe with Voltron or destroy them.

3) LISA ♀ - Age: 25. Her full name is Lisa Seidou Garrett (no relation to the Vehicle Voltron Force's #7 Lisa Haruka Kaga), elder sister to the Lion Voltron Force's own Tsuyoshi "Hunk" Seidou Garrett the Yellow Lion Paladin. Taken prisoner by Commander Yurak along with her brother and the other four space explorers Hunk was with to the Galran Homeworld in the wake of the destruction of Olympus, Lisa had to fight for her life as a gladiator in King Zarkon's barbaric arena against vicious Robeasts for the Galran Drules' entertainment. During a raid by the Blade of Marmora on their homeworld of Galra, Lisa was rescued along with Seamus by Krolia - and they are heading on yet another rescue mission.

4) SEAMUS ♂ - Age: 23. Executive Officer (XO) to Captain Janet Sakura Manabu of the fallen Galaxy Alliance Starship Paladin. His full title is Lieutenant Commander Seamus Kazu Izumo Cochrane - the elder brother of Vehicle Voltron Force member Shannon. When the Paladin got caught in her accident and was stranded in Drule space, he was taken by a Galran Drule prison ship back to Zarkon's territory in the Denubian Galaxy - but that ship was attacked by the Blade of Marmora and Seamus was rescued by Krolia. Aware of the many prisoners that the Drule high command staff in the Milky Way, Hyperion and Denubian galaxies have taken, Seamus and Krolia have begun a campaign of liberation.

5) DEBBIE ♀ - Age: 25. Assistant Adjunct to the Science Officer of the Galaxy Alliance Starship Explorer. Her full name is Deborah Shimako Serizawa Forrest. Debbie had abandoned a career in bio-research for a position in the Galaxy Alliance. She had hoped that this would reunite her with her fiancé Dr. Ryu Kitano, incommunicado following his expedition to the planet Amalga II. In the meantime, she currently is assigned to aid Professor Page in scientific experiments and analyze the technology of the Drule forces so to develop the appropriate means to counter such in the future. She also serves as a great character for the female Voltron pilots Ginger, Lisa and Cinda to work off of and or compete with.

6. GRAHAM ♂ - Age: 64. Commander-in-Chief of the Galaxy Alliance's armed forces (ground army, air squadrons, sea and space navies, as well as special marines). His full title is Star Marshal Matthew Satoru Wasaka Graham of the Galaxy Alliance. He has been a very close friend of and mentor to Captain Newley and Commander Hawkins throughout their time in the Galaxy Alliance Starfleet. He was one of the only marshals to sponsor the mission of the Explorer/Rugger Guard to find new planets to colonize as well as locate Vehicle Voltron. Not usually being one for nonsense, he along with Newley believes there is more to the war against the Drule Empires and the story of Voltron than is being spoken out.

7) KROLIA ♀ - Age: 47. Supreme Commander of the Blade of Marmora. Her full married name is Krolia Annabelle Kogane, wife of Trevor Akio Kogane - which makes her the mother of Keith Akira Kogane: the Lion Voltron Force's Fire Paladin of Red Lion who will later become the Sky Paladin of Black Lion. One of the most beautiful and dependable agents of the Blade of Marmora, Krolia was not chosen by her fellow Galran students - especially Kolivan - to be the leader of the Blade for nothing. When Keith was a child, Zarkon and Zeppo were making incursions into their galaxies, so Krolia disappeared to sabotage the Drule war effort and rescue Drule prisoners. It is she who helps Janet in a prison escape.

The Background

Following on with the background information introduced in the previous films including Vehicle Voltron I: The Mightiest of Saviors Rise, now we can start to delve deeper into the mysteries of Vehicle Voltron and the conflicts facing the Milky Way Galaxy. We set up the basic mythology of the Vehicle Voltron series as the planets Earth, Galileo and Dulcinea; and Vehicle Voltron (Dairugger XV) alongside the Galaxy Alliance Starship Explorer/Rugger Guard with its fleet are at war with Planet Galveston and the Drule Empire's forces there. Here we meet some family members of different Vehicle and Lion Voltron Force members in a more human story that begins to tie the series together with some major revelations.

It is here we first meet a secret ally of the Voltron Forces - a Galran by the name of Krolia; leader of the Blade of Marmora and the mother of Lion Voltron Force member Keith Akira Kogane, who has secretly been rescuing prisoners of the Drule Empires' factions and brewing the secret revolution. Along with like-minded Galrans and Galvestonians who secretly are trying to secure Commander Hazar's support for the revolution to overthrow Zeppo, Az'A and Zarkon; this coalition is going to run into trouble when Hazar, his sister Dorma and their father Mozak are under suspicion of being in cahoots with the enemy. With this hiccup in their plans, the Blade's Coalition will have to turn to Vehicle Voltron for help.

The Premise

Historically, the Vehicle Voltron Force story arc of Voltron: Defender of the Universe was adapted from the 1982 anime series Armored Fleet Dairugger XV - but was adapted to be part of a much bigger storyline. We start the Voltron story as a Asimovian science fiction story that is about how the titular machines came to be, used to solve problems, and how their presence affects people for good or ill. Mixing up the team of heroes premises of the Japanese Super Sentai/Power Rangers series, the intergalactic journey of Star Trek, the swashbuckling adventure and journeys of Horatio Hornblower, and the appeal of robots found in both the Gundam and Transformers franchises, Voltron is ready to launch.

In this four-quadrant five-act mecha science fiction epic, the year is 2983 and the war to liberate the Milky Way Galaxy (Near Universe) from the Galveston Empire of the Drules rages on with Voltron and the Galaxy Alliance Starship Explorer/Rugger Guard leading the fight. But the war is about to take many complicated turns as Hazar's father Mozak discovers that the Drule empires' Quintessence experiments are threatening the Drule Homeworld, an underground movement by the Blade of Marmora is rescuing prisoners and giving aid to those Drules who want peace with the Alliance, and it is topped off by a Drule captain being treated fairly by the Voltron Force which puts Zeppo and Throk on very thin ice...

The Nemeses

Aside from villains introduced in the previous four movies to be expounded on, new faces here will be expounded on in future installments.

1) MONGO ♂ - Age: Late 30s/Early 40s. Species: Galvestonian Drule. Homeworld: Galveston (Drule Homeworld). Eye Color: Red. His full title is Captain Mongo Drake of the Galvestonian Drules. For the longest time, Mongo has been one of the Galvestonian Empire of the Drules' greatest officers as well as a loyal friend and confidant of Hazar. Even though he is loyal to the Empire, his first loyalties are to the Drule people who he serves and protects which is followed by Hazar. A composed and rational figure like Hazar, Mongo is at times the voice of logical reason whom Hazar trusts with his life and trusts will be able to question him and his motives if need be. They both have the Empire's best interests at heart.

2) DORMA ♀ - Age: Late 30s. Species: Galvestonian Drule. Homeworld: Galveston (Drule Homeworld). Eye Color: Red. Hair Color: Black. Her full name is Dorma Sirk Teles - the sister of Chief Commander Hazar. Both scions of Galvestonian Drule Supreme Council member Chancellor Mozak, Dorma is often the voice of warm-blooded passion yet a conscience in what would appear to be a cold-blooded civilization. Her brother and father are grateful to and supportive of her endeavors, and she is one of the first to advocate for peace with the Galaxy Alliance. When she and Mozak are taken captive alongside Hazar and Mongo by Throk and Zeppo, a sudden revolt and rescue led by Krolia may shift the tides.

3) NEROK ♂ - Age: Late 30s/Early 40s. Species: Galvestonian Drule. Homeworld: Galveston (Drule Homeworld). Eye Color: Red. His full title is Captain Nerok Lafitte of the Galvestonian Drules. Nerok is a cruel and heavyset Drule officer who often serves as a bête noire to Mongo and by extent Hazar. A natural-born kiss-up and backstabber, he lives for nothing more than destroying the Galaxy Alliance and making Hazar look like a fool. He is by all means the latest within the Empire's ranks under Hazar to oppose peace with the Alliance and the Voltron Forces - for as it turns out, he is one of the first conspiring with Zeppo, Throk and the Council to overthrow and even murder Hazar's family for their treachery.

4) TWYLA ♀ - Age: Early 30s. Species: Galvestonian Drule. Homeworld: Galveston (Drule Homeworld). Eye Color: Red. Hair Color: White. Her full name is Captain Embrose "Emma" Twyla of the Galvestonian Drules. Twyla is an ambitious young captain in the Galvestonian Drule forces alongside Mongo and Nerok who believes that glory for the Drules' vassal empires is within reach once she destroys Voltron. Unlike Nerok, she is keen to learn from and take the advice of Mongo and Hazar in order to get the best results. Because of this, Mongo on his own gives Twyla a special mission - pretend to surrender to the Alliance and Voltron to learn about their mission. This may prove to be a blessing in disguise.

5) MOZAK ♂ - Age: Late 50s/Early 60s. Species: Galvestonian Drule. Homeworld: Galveston (Drule Homeworld). Eye Color: Red. His full title is Chancellor Mozak Socrat Teles of the Galvestonian Drule Supreme Council. For a long time, Mozak has been the charitable conscience of the Galvestonian Drule Supreme Council who has earned a great many enemies including Emperor Zeppo and Viceroy Throk themselves. When a major sector of the Drule public starts questioning the war against the Alliance and Voltron, Zeppo and Throk are the first to suspect Mozak of seditious treason and insurrection. When Mozak and his children are threatened, Voltron and Krolia's coalition may help to save him and others.

The Heroes and the Twist

Each member of Vehicle Voltron's three teams (Air, Land and Sea) of a super force of space explorers is reflective of aspects of ourselves that we all have been at some point in our lives - the class clown, the lone wolf, the young genius, the tough guy who is also a mediator, and that young person destined for life greater than their backyard. But the events and story/character backgrounds of the previous films are about to pay off in consequences as it is revealed that the Galran named Krolia - the mother of Lion Voltron Force member Keith - has rescued some of Voltron's family and they are forming a coalition of like-minded Drules (Galran and Galvestonian) who want a true peace with the Alliance.

The Story Breakdown

Prologue

    1) From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the Universe, comes a legend. The legend of the Voltrons: Defenders of the Universe. Three mighty robots, loved by good, feared by evil. As the Voltrons' legend grew, peace settled across the galaxies. On Planet Earth, a Galaxy Alliance was formed. Together with the good planets of our Solar System, they maintained peace throughout the Universe until new, horrible menaces threatened the galaxies. The Voltrons are needed once more. This is the story of the super force of space explorers. Specially trained, entrusted and sent by the Alliance with the ancient secrets of how to assemble and bring back, Vehicle Voltron: Defender of the Near Universe.

Act I

    2) We open on the Galaxy Alliance support and supply fleet orbiting the planet Nanos in the Epsilon sector of the Milky Way Galaxy. While the space battleships and fighter carriers are upgrading their laser and missile defense systems in their preparation for the Drule Empire's next attack, the Explorer/Rugger Guard has put down on the oceans of Nanos in need of shore leave of rest and relaxation for the Vehicle Voltron Force. Krik, Cinda, Rocky, Shannon, Lisa and Modok are enjoying a game of water polo while Jeff, Cliff and Ginger try to relax and just float on the waters around the Explorer. Tangor has gotten out his keyboard to play some seaside lounge tunes while Zandee catalogs local wildlife.

    3) Just as he is about to get into the water with Professor Page's assistant Debbie Forrest, Chip notices Debbie feeling a little down. He goes over to find out what is bothering her. Debbie realizes that Chip is surprisingly mature for a child in caring about her, so she tells him of how her fiancé Ryu Kitano went incommunicado with her during his mission with the Alliance to the planet Amalga II. She has taken her position in the Alliance in the hopes of finding and or rescuing him from a terrible fate. Chip consoles her and tells her he would have been proud of her, for Kitano was one of Professor Page and Captain Newley's finest students. Her spirits lifted a little, Debbie follows Chip into some cliff diving.

    4) Across space on the planet Galveston (the Drule Homeworld), Emperor Zeppo Corsair has convened a meeting of the Galvestonian Drule Supreme Council on the subject of the Galaxy Alliance and their Vehicle Voltron Force. His five top lieutenants which include Viceroy Throk, the councilors Durax, Blazak, Karsh; and Chancellor Mozak Socrat Teles - the father of both Chief Commander Hazar and Hazar's sister Dorma. For reasons as yet unknown, the Drule Homeworld's destruction - though not imminent - seems inevitable. Hazar returns in time with Dorma to see their father Mozak put forth the idea of considering peace and cooperation with the Alliance. The Council agrees to consider the idea for now.

    5) Hazar and Dorma support their father, stating that it was Commander Zabar's foolish belief in the might of the Empire to destroy both Voltron and the Galaxy Alliance that led to his demise. Zeppo appears to consider Mozak's words, as underestimating Voltron led to their defeat at Galateia. Throk, Durax, Blazak and Karsh are not having it - believing that peace and cooperation with the Alliance will lead to their ultimate destruction. They already have had rumblings in the Denubian Galaxy of Lion Voltron's exploits emboldening other worlds to send task forces to probe King Zarkon's defenses and threaten his stranglehold over the Far Universe. Indeed, that is just what a few masked agents are up to.

    6) Wolo, Marvin and Hutch are finishing up their swim in the water in order to get an update from the Alliance on news happening across the Near, Middle and Far Universes. The Gladiator and Lion Voltron Forces' successes have emboldened more worlds to rise up against the Derinja Drule and Galran Drule forces there, but a secret pirate ship has gone to planet Galra and managed to escape Zarkon's defenses while a prison break has been reported on that planet. Marvin and Hutch promise Wolo they will keep an eye and ear open for the pirate ship in case it makes its way into the Milky Way Galaxy from the Denubian. Wolo watches with amusement as Marvin and Hutch do some sparring as they bicker.

Act II

    7) After a week of downtime on Nanos, the Explorer and her fleet are ready to get underway to scout out the inhabited yet neutral planet of Eldora, home of the Amazon people led under Queen Neffra. Debbie catches up with Ginger, Cinda and Lisa in the Crew Lounge to discuss the ongoing state of the war and what to expect from Neffra and the Eldoran Amazons. With the Eldorans having a very advanced missile defense system, they have probably had to deal with the Drule Empire's incursions into their space for some time and have beaten them back before. But with the new and more powerful Robeasts, the Eldorans' missiles and potential space fleets will need to be bolstered by the Voltron Force.

    8) In preparing a siege of the neutral world of Eldora, Nerok and Twyla stand above the hangar of their Skull Ship to address the mass of Centurion soldiers and Stinger fighter pilots. He declares that they will have the support of thirteen Robeasts to help devastate the Alliance forces to completely subjugate the Eldora system. The thirteen Robeasts consist of Planet Smasher, Hades Orb, Nightshade Berserker, Heavy Blazersect, Barracudax, Arachno-Binder, Dynamobot, Rocket Sniper, Wolf-Beetle, Steel Spacebug, Cyclops Revolution, Death Digger, and the Dagger Toad piloted by Nerok himself. The laser tanks and Stinger fighters will follow Robeasts in to attack any outer defense posts of Eldora.

    9) Unbeknownst to the Drules, a Galran space battleship bearing markings of the Blade of Marmora has been able to slip into Drule space without attracting any investigative patrols. It has just left the sector of space closest to the Amalga system as three cloaked and masked figures (two female and one male) watch over a man recovering in the sickbay. This man matches the description and picture Debbie showed Chip of her with her fiancé Ryu. Ryu asks the figures where he is and what they want with him. The lead figure takes her helmet off and asks him what he knows about Voltron. When he tells of Vehicle Voltron being in action, the woman promises they will return him to his fiancée.

    10) As the Explorer and her fleet prepare to enter the Eldora sector; Ginger, Cinda and Lisa volunteer to be the first envoys to contact Queen Neffra and the Eldoran Amazons with Debbie on hand to serve as their field doctor and science technician. Newley and Hawkins sign off on the plan and Debbie boards the Falcon Jet Fighter with Ginger to alert the Eldorans of their arrival and that they come in peace. From the Eldoran Space Control, Neffra surprisingly welcomes the Galaxy Alliance to Eldora and the three Vehicle Voltron fighters are invited to land at the Grand Palace of Eldora for an audience with her. Lisa and Cinda are quite taken with the Egyptian Pyramids-styled architecture of the Amazon city.

    11) In meeting with Neffra, the three Voltron pilots are encouraged by the fact that the Eldorans wish to join the Alliance to stop Drule force raids in their space whilst also retaining intelligence of the Galvestonian Drule high command. From their ship offices, Tangor and Hutch review the intelligence on Hazar - which suggests he is a rational figure who may be willing to talk. With cautious optimism, Newley is willing to let Hawkins contact Hazar via hyperskip communique. Surprisingly, Hawkins receives a reply from Hazar telling him that he and his family (father Mozak and sister Dorma) are interested and would like to rendezvous with the Explorer and her fleet in a neutral locale outside Eldoran space.

Act III

    12) Back in the space of the Drule Empire; the fleets of Nerok, Twyla and Mongo are marshaling together to prepare for the final assault on Eldora where Nerok will destroy the Voltron Force and claim Queen Neffra as his bride and make him king. In a flash of inspiration, Mongo calls for Twyla to meet aboard his Skull Ship to listen to a proposal he has. Having received a report on the Battle of Galateia and what intelligence they have on the Galaxy Alliance, Mongo tasks Twyla with a special reconnaissance mission - surrender her fleet to the Explorer and its fleet while learning what the Alliance wishes to do and relay it back to him. Twyla is willing to do so as long as it remains a secret and theirs alone.

    13) Having proven their good intentions, the Voltron Force is invited by Queen Neffra to send all its members down to the surface of Eldora for some hospitality as well as establishing a new joint defense outpost that is to be shared 50/50 between an Alliance garrison and the Eldoran Amazon forces. Chip, Marvin and Zandee demonstrate to the Amazons the long-range hyperskip scanners and early warning satellite systems that will alert the Eldorans and Alliance forces to any space traffic passing near their sector. Immediately, an unmarked space battleship is picked up on scanners and is pinged for heading to a dark region of space. Neffra immediately pings the destination as the Drule Homeworld.

    14) In orbit of the Drule Homeworld, that ship is the Galran space battleship which is going in guns blazing to provide cover for dropships that are being escorted by fighters to barrel towards the surface of Galveston and make their way towards the underground cities and their prison camps that did not expect a full frontal assault by what would appear to have been one of their own. The cloaked and masked figures now have two males and two females as they hack and slash through the first Centurion guards. Picking up their uniforms, they look up two prisoners - Janet Sakura Manabu and Seamus Kazu Izumo Cochrane. They start for the prison cell blocks and kill any guards to get the keys.

    15) Back at his palace, Zeppo hears of the prison break and demands to know who would be responsible for it. Throk, Durax, Blazak and Karsh immediately suspect treason on the part of Dorma and Mozak for seemingly allowing a renegade skull ship of Zarkon's carrying masked terrorists to enter their atmosphere. Throk orders via a hyperskip communique for Nerok and his forces to arrest and or terminate Hazar, Dorma and Mozak on sight. But the cloaked and masked figures along with their rescue targets - among them Janet, Ryu and Seamus - break into the communications relay where Throk is and send another communique to Mongo to warn Twyla and Hazar of Nerok and Throk's evil treachery.

    16) Anticipating a meeting with Hazar, Dorma and Mozak; Hawkins and Newley are in contact with Star Marshal Matthew Graham to relay the potential good news about the summit and about Eldora. Jeff, Krik and Cliff are very interested and cautiously optimistic, but the aide-de-camp to Hawkins and Newley - one Yeoman Garris Wade - is impatient for simply blowing the Drules out of the stars forever in one clear shot. The three Vehicle Voltron team leaders are perplexed as to the one-sided hatred Wade is nursing against them. Just then, a contact comes in from the bridge. Captain Twyla's fleet is approaching and they wish to discuss the terms of their surrender to the starship Explorer's fleet.

Act IV

    17) Twyla is brought to meet with Captain Newley, Commander Hawkins, Yeoman Wade, Professor Page, Air Leader Jeff, Land Leader Cliff and Sea Leader Krik in the Explorer's Conference Room. The meeting goes surprisingly cordial as Twyla ponders the indoctrination processes of Throk and Nerok posing a greater threat to the Empire's people than Voltron and the Alliance. Hawkins affirms that they are simple people who - though not to be trifled with - would rather live in peace and cooperation with a more democratic and just Drule government more responsive to the needs of its peoples. Just then, Twyla receives a message from Mongo telling her that Hazar and his family are in grave peril from Nerok.

    18) Just as a patrol fleet prepares to intercept Mozak and Dorma's fleet and take them prisoner, the patrol comes under heavy fire from the Galran space battleship of Marmora and its coalition. Hazar's fleet is already underway to Eldora to meet with Neffra and the Vehicle Voltron Force for a clandestine summit - which is exactly what Throk and Nerok have been gambling on. The ship's commander identifies herself as Krolia Annabelle Kogane - the Galran mother of Galaxy Alliance and Lion Voltron Force member Keith - as she sends a distress message to Mongo, Twyla, Hazar and the Explorer telling that they are trying to protect Hazar's father and sister but have trouble escaping Planet Drule.

    19) Hazar and a few escort Stingers are escorted to the surface under the supervision of the Vehicle Voltron's Air Team in the Strato Fighters called Kuruggers, Land Team in the Turbo Terrain Fighters called Rikuruggers, and Sea Team in the Aqua Fighters called Kairuggers - which also come from the classic Earth sport of rugby. Jeff, Krik and Cliff bring Hazar to meet with Neffra which bewilders Rocky, Hutch and Tangor. Chip, Zandee and Marvin keep their eyes trained on Hazar and his few guards while they prepare their blasters to fire in case any trouble arises. Mongo soon answers Krolia's call and requests that the Marmora fleet proceed to Eldora to save Hazar from Nerok's Robeast forces.

    20) In the nick of time, Mongo's fleet comes out of hyperskip to provide protection for Mozak and Dorma who are wanted by Zeppo and Throk as traitors to the Drule Empire. Mongo declares that his first duty is to all of the Empire's people - including the father and sister of his best friend Hazar; therefore, he shall call himself a traitor to Zeppo and the Council. Krolia and Ryu signal their thanks to Mongo as they get underway to Eldora to stop Nerok's forces from launching their attack on the Alliance. As these things are happening - back on the Explorer, Wade detects Nerok's fleet emerging out of hyperskip on a course for Eldora. He is the first to believe Twyla and Hazar have laid a trap.

    21) The pompous and overconfident Nerok is thoroughly aghast and betrayed by Twyla's supposed cavorting with the enemy. Twyla retorts that if he wants to blame anyone, blame Zeppo and Throk for indoctrinating them with belligerent propaganda and total hypocrisy against the Galaxy Alliance. Unlike him; Hazar was trying to do some good for the Empire's peoples. Seething with rage, he orders his Stinger fighters launched and tank dropships deployed as he contacts Hazar. Nerok announces that once he and his forces are finished with the thorns in his side that are Hazar, his family and the Alliance; the Drule Empire will at last be safe and he will soon rule Eldora with Neffra as his bride.

Act V

    22) Enraged and without any hesitation, Hazar steals a Stinger fighter to help the Vehicle Voltron Force fight off the invading Drule forces under Nerok. Suddenly an unknown group of fighters and dropships opens fire on Nerok's forces - calling themselves the Marmora Coalition allied against the Drule Empire. Jeff and Shannon are delighted to hear the voices of their sister and brother again but Hazar's Stinger is hit pretty badly by Nerok and Dagger Toad - causing it to crash back to the planet below. Hazar manages a safe crash landing, but is badly injured by the time Neffra and some guards get to carrying him back to their city for intensive care. Jeff promises Hazar that he'll see his family again.

    23) Certain that Mongo, Dorma and Mozak will need help; Twyla orders her fleet to depart the Explorer's fleet and meet up with Mongo's and the Marmora Coalition's to help Hazar. Strato Fighter goes after Planet Smasher, Turbo Terrain Fighter selects its opposite number in Hades Orb, and Aqua Fighter grapples with the Nightshade Berserker - with all three vehicle fighter combinations ultimately successful in destroying the Robeasts. There are still some Robeasts being led by Nerok left along with the Stinger fighters and Drule tanks that are heading for the Amazon City. Strato, Aqua and Turbo Terrain Fighters split into their component vehicles to rearrange themselves in forming Vehicle Voltron.

    24) Now that Voltron is together, Jeff orders them to fire off the Solar Combat Spears to destroy Steel Spacebug, Cyclops Revolution and Death Digger. Wolf-Beetle, Rocket Sniper and Dynamobot are whipped and electrocuted into exploding via the Energy Beam Whip. A fleet of Stingers and company of tanks escort the Dagger Toad, Barracudax, Arachno-Binder and Heavy Blazersect until the latter three are destroyed by the Spinning Laser Blades. Voltron manages to blast some with the Eye and Wing Beams in the Electro-Thermal Blast but they keep coming. Just when the fighters and tanks have Voltron surrounded, the Marmora Coalition comes through racing to draw the enemies' fire off Voltron.

    25) With the Marmora Coalition forces opening fire on the Stinger fighters and Drule tanks, Voltron is able to recover the strength to form the Blazing Sword so to parry with Nerok. Ultimately, Nerok and his Robeast perish in a fiery conflagration. With the destruction of Nerok along with his Dagger Toad, Voltron races back to the surface of Eldora where Neffra reports that Hazer is in a very bad way. While the men stay on the surface to help prop up Eldora's defenses as it becomes a member world of the Alliance; Cinda, Ginger and Lisa need to rush Hazar back to the Explorer for recovery. On their way, Ginger relays an order to Newley and Hawkins to send a hyperskip communique to Mongo and Twyla.

    26) Mongo and Twyla's fleets join up with the Explorer's requesting an audience with their Hazar. Professor Page and Debbie escort Mongo, Twyla, Mozak and Dorma to the Sickbay where they find Hazar alive but recovering. With Hazar's family safe and their supporters' battle fleets exiled from the Empire; Captain Newley, Commander Hawkins and Krolia offer Hazar a pledge of a true peace with all the Drule peoples once Zeppo Corsair and his top support staff are ousted. The real war has just begun as the Vehicle Voltron Force takes off - leading the Alliance, Blade of Marmora and Galvestonian Drule Underground Rebel Forces battle fleets out on a mission to liberate the doomed Planet Galveston...

Epilogue (Preview Summary for Vehicle Voltron III: Ascension of the Alliance)

    27) With the rescue of Hazar's family and his two most trusted officers, the Explorer/Rugger Guard and Vehicle Voltron Force spearhead a coalition of Alliance, Blade of Marmora and reformed Drule forces ready to take the fight to the Galvestonian Drule Supreme Council. Back on the Drule Homeworld (Planet Galveston), Zeppo and the Supreme Council's deadly experiments with Quintessence have doomed their planet to explode and bring an end to the Galvestonian and Galvestonian Drule peoples. As Hazar and his allies lead their fleet and the Alliance fleet in evacuating the Drule Homeworld for a new planet; the Vehicle Voltron Force will have to tangle with Zeppo and Throk's forces one last time...
Back into Sta.sh Writer I go, and what have I churned out this time? Another concept movie treatment, this time, based around the criminally underrated Vehicle Voltron arc of the classic 1984-1987 animated cartoon television series Voltron: Defender of the Universe, inspired by the 1982 anime Armored Fleet Dairugger XV that I hope to write and direct someday. The title of this potential live-action mecha science fiction movie? Vehicle Voltron II: The Fall of Hazar.

If someday this movie of mine is made, it could be the second installment of the first of three tastes for a cinematic universe of mecha genre movies set in the world of Voltron: Defender of the Universe created in cooperation between DreamWorks SKG (Storyteller Distribution Co., LLC), World Events Productions (WEP LLC) and Toei Company to compete with the DC, Hasbro and Marvel cinematic universes.

NOTE: Some eagle-eyed readers may find that some of the characters in the original Vehicle Voltron story did not get much development in their original incarnations. So, to rectify that, I was forced to pull some biographical character information from whatever sources I could and adapt them to fit the characters - primarily Gerry Anderson's 1965 Supermarionation classic Thunderbirds, its purported 1982 anime sequel Thunderbirds 2086 (Scientific Rescue Team TechnoVoyager), the original Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato) anime, and even some of Star Trek: The Original Series. Plus, the comparisons of Vehicle Voltron to Star Trek in the realms of science fiction run very parallel to the comparisons between Lion Voltron and Star Wars for mythic space fantasy.

THE STORY

In the year 2983, the war to liberate the Milky Way Galaxy (Near Universe) from the Galveston Empire of the Drules rages on with Vehicle Voltron and the Galaxy Alliance Starship Explorer/Rugger Guard leading the fight. But the war is about to take complicated turns as Hazar's father Mozak discovers that the Drule empires' Quintessence experiments are threatening the Drule Homeworld, an underground movement by the Blade of Marmora is rescuing prisoners and giving aid to those Drules who want peace with the Alliance, and it is topped off by Drule Captain Twyla being treated fairly by the Vehicle Voltron Force which puts Zeppo and Throk on very thin ice. But when Mozak and Hazar's sister Dorma are threatened by Zeppo, Hazar will have to turn to the Voltron Force for help to save his family...
