Raised by Abel and Zuri Hubble, longtime friends of the king and queen, we later meet Aria on her last day of high school in Palo Alto, California. Her foster father has nurtured a knack for flying in Aria. Having been brought up with a good sense of morality and justice, Aria is still just a young idealistic girl who longs for adventure to take her beyond flying crop duster planes - one leading her to the Olympian Academy out in space.

Over the course of the story, Aria will train to become a Hiko Warrior as she derives her powers primarily from the mystical energy field that is present in all living things across the eleven galaxies of the United Galactic Commonwealth known as Spectra. She and her betrothed C.J. will lead nine other students at Olympian Academy as well as some of their friends and acquaintances in fulfilling the Hiko Warriors' divine mission of serving as the guardians of peace and justice in the eleven galaxies of the Commonwealth. The series will also follow Aria's adventures in the Intergalactic Defense and Exploration Force as a crack Starfighter-Mecha Pilot and Starship Commander in several wars.

Author's Notes
  1. Less than provisional first name back from 2005 when I first started thinking of such a character.
  2. My personal favorite name, [UPDATE: Now] the final name.
This is a profile for a major character in a potential book/movie/television/video game/audio podcast radio drama series franchise I hope to create that starts with the hub base series called UCSWSH (Unnamed Caped Sword-Wielding Space Heroine)/Aria Taiyorider and the Solar Soldiers. Think of this as equal parts of Star Wars, X-Men, Honor Harrington, the King Arthur mythos, J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-Earth legendarium (The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings), Game of Thrones, RWBY and Harry Potter all mixed in a blender. I was a wee young lad of 10 back in 2005 when I first had the idea for my own space fantasy entitled The Star Fighters that was essentially a feminized and somewhat gender-bent version of Star Wars which I enjoyed. One of the names I had for UCSWSH at the time still survives as a potential alias - Cosma Starflier. Ever since seeing a 1995 VHS copy of the original 1977 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope that my uncle owned, I knew right then and there that by hook or by crook, I would somehow put my ideas for my own Flash Gordon-esque space opera out there for people to enjoy.

Another impetus for UCSWSH/Aria Taiyorider came out of an idea I had in 2014 to do a What-If movie about the ocean liner RMS Olympic before she was cut up for scrap. It would have been set in 1935 and involved her last crew delivering her to the breakers yard only to be swarmed by the crew of a Nazi Germany naval (Kriegsmarine) fleet and attempting a takeover. One of the Olympic's female attendant crew would lead a revolt and overpower their captors. She would ultimately be the only one to lead the rest and take the Olympic on a dangerous hunt for the German battleship and its crew prowling the Atlantic Ocean and prevent it from causing any more harm. I later reworked it into a classic science fiction/space fantasy story about a space carrier/battleship that also resembled an ocean liner, was named the Olympic/Olympia/Olympus and a female crew member would lead her and her crew to victory over an oppressive regime led by the evil counterparts to the Jedi-type heroes of the story while trying to make first contact with Earth after receiving one of NASA's Voyager or Pioneer space probes in their galaxy.

After seeing Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and seeing how my dreams of seeing a female Luke Skywalker-type character (a good pilot who is strong in mystical powers and wields a powerful sword) come true in their character of Rey, I decided to go back and rework my original idea which had gone through many different titles (first it was The Star Fighters, then it became The Cosmic Crusaders, and now it is Aria Taiyorider and the Solar Soldiers). Now I might be able to get the ultimate distillation of my ideas down and out there for people to see at last. UCSWSH was just a placeholder for the final name which was to be chosen by the first person who comments on this and speaks out which of the aliases would be their first choice [UPDATE: UCSWSH is now Aria Taiyorider]. One thing that is certain, though, is that her mentor and boyfriend is named C.J. Khan Rasōn, which was inspired by Obi-Wan Kenobi of Star Wars and in part of name by Khan Noonien Singh of Star Trek so that one of the main villains in the story finds out he is alive and scream his name in anger before rushing off to duel him in a fierce sword fight - "KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!"

UPDATE [02/26/2018]: A friend of mine whose name I shall keep secret said the name 'Aria Taiyorider' in which the Japanese word for 'sun'; 太陽 (Taiyō) turns "Taiyorider" into "Sunrider" like the characters Nomi and Vima Sunrider from Tales of the Jedi comic series, the Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic video games of Star Wars; stood out to them. Therefore, I choose 'Aria Taiyorider' as the final name. No affiliation nor endorsement of the Jeep Sunrider soft tops is implied via the usage of this character's name.
